Is Tom Hardy Too Difficult? The Real Reason He Was Fired From MobLand Season 3
Tom Hardy is officially out of Paramount+ hit crime drama MobLand. Inside the explosive on-set fighting that led to his shocking Season 3 firing.
LOS ANGELES — Hollywood just got hit with a massive shockwave. Tom Hardy is officially out of the smash-hit Paramount+ British crime drama MobLand.
The massive star will not return for a planned Season 3 after major backstage drama exploded during the filming of the upcoming Season 2. The studio chose to walk away from their leading man instead of dealing with any more chaos.
The news comes directly from an industry insider reporting by Puck News, which broke the story wide open.
According to industry tracking, MobLand launched in 2025 and completely dominated the charts, pulling in over 26 million viewers globally and becoming the network’s biggest hit outside of the Taylor Sheridan universe.
Hardy played Harry Da Souza, a cold-blooded fixer deep in the pockets of the Harrigan crime syndicate. He also served as an executive producer. While Hardy finished his scenes for Season 2, which drops later this year, the studio exercised its power and decided not to pick up his mutual contract option for Season 3.
Creative Clashes and Set Delays
Hollywood insiders know Hardy can be a handful, but things reached a boiling point this time.
Sources from the set allege that Hardy frequently arrived late to filming, constantly demanded script rewrites, and aggressively tried to alter written dialogue on the fly. The continuous pressure created a toxic environment that pitted Hardy against heavy-hitting show producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser.
The Ultimate Ensemble Power Struggle
The situation grew worse as the show evolved.
Originally built around Hardy’s star power, MobLand grew into a massive ensemble piece featuring screen legends Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, alongside Paddy Considine and Joanne Froggatt.
Hardy was allegedly furious about sharing the spotlight. Tensions got so high that showrunner Jez Butterworth threatened to quit the entire production.
Faced with a choice between their star and their creative team, Paramount+ backed the writers. This is a massive PR gamble for a streaming platform that relies heavily on Hardy’s name to drive international subscription numbers.
A Known Pattern of Production Tension
This isn’t the first time Hardy has made enemies on a high-profile set. Fans across Stan Twitter are already bringing up his past history of intense filming behavior.
During the production of Mad Max: Fury Road, co-star Charlize Theron openly called out Hardy for his chronic lateness and unpredictable mood swings, forcing producers to step in as mediators.
Similar rumors of physical tension followed him during the filming of Lawless with Shia LaBeouf, and creative fights broke out during the grueling shoot for The Revenant.
What Comes Next for the Harrigan Empire?
The studio now faces a nightmare scenario.
Can a crime drama survive when its central fixer gets erased from the board? Audiences will still get to see Hardy’s final run when Season 2 premieres later this year, but his character will likely face a permanent exit by the finale.
Neither Paramount+ nor Hardy’s representatives have released an official public comment regarding the firing.
As for Hardy, he is already lining up his next move, with plans to shoot director Sean Penn’s upcoming movie project later this summer.
